I have dark blonde hair that I've had highlighted. Now my roots are growing out and I want to color all of my hair myself. I want it a light blonde. The problem is, most of the hair color kits I've used in the past give my roots an orangy color and the bottom of my hair a really pretty blonde. Any suggestions or brands you've used?
Thanks in advance! :)Are there any at home hair colors that won't turn hair reddish or orangey?
Use and ';Ash'; color that you want. If you use any other color
it will tend to turn red. Do not not use the ';Goldens'; they have the reddish tint. They name ';Golden'; is very misleading.
My hairs is light brown and If I do not use as Ash Blonde, it will have red highlights to us. So, I have learned not to use anything that says Golden or does Not say Ash blonde,
Good luck. I am sure it will look great! Please give this consideration and try it. I am a Hair Stylist and know that if you have a warm tone to your skin you hair will have a tendency to have some red and it will not always come up to blonde. The ash tones will lighten it without the red.
You can always go to a hair salon or beauty supply store and ask their opinion. It is difficult to tell people with blonde hair not to use the golden tones. It does work for warm skin tones, but apparently you have a cool skin tone and golden will not work for you.
If it does not work, you can color it again with a non-permanent color. You could also experience with the rinse out color so if you did not like it, your re-color it. Be sure to leave it on long enough to take out the red. In many cases the volumizer that is used is not strong enough to lighten it to the shade you want and once it turns orange, that is a much as it can bleach it. Also, unless your hair is dirty with hair spray of setting gel, don't wash it before you apply the color. It takes better with dryer hair/
If you discuss this with a hair dresser, it would help you know the right color and strength of toner you need. Try it you have nothing to lose but your time. Good Luck...lol :)Are there any at home hair colors that won't turn hair reddish or orangey?
You can try Loreal LesBlondissmes, which is reportedly the ';lightest one-step blonding available'; -- you will want to use an ash tone or super light cooler color. I use it, and my hair has a lot of red (light to medium brown).
If you have a lot of gold tones in your hair you need something with ash or violet in it. Try going to Sally's Beauty Supply and ask a colorist.
