How do I preserve unusual hair colors?

A large portion of my hair electric-turqoise. Over the years, I've found that my hair does not hold dye very well, and doing touch-ups with various at home dyes doesn't work well for me. Any suggestions for keeping my hair colored longer? How do I preserve unusual hair colors?
I found the same problem you're talking about with my (pink) hair. Basically, none of the dyes would last more than 2 weeks without completely fading out. Each dye reacts to each person's hair differently, so if you really want a good color, you'll pretty much have to try 'em all (my friend suggested Splat because it stayed in her hair for a month, and it only lasted a week in mine, so there was a slight difference there).

What I do now is keep the dye in longer than the suggested time on the bottle (if it says fifteen minutes, I'd leave it in twenty or thirty). That way it really saturates and doesn't come out as much. Bleaching first always helps the dye to stick, so you might want to try that to lengthen the time on your dye job. After the dye is in, wash your hair every other day with shampoo (if you just wet it with water, the dye usually won't come out). Of course, if you're super-concerned with washing your hair every day, then certainly go ahead and do that. Also, you can buy special shampoos made especially for unusually-dyed hair. One that I can think of now is manic panic colorizer shampoo (you can find it on their website, but I warn you, it's pretty expensive for a shampoo). It probably works best with their dye products, but it still doesn't hurt to try to leave in your color. Hope this helped...How do I preserve unusual hair colors?
Use a shampoo and conditioner that is for color-treated hair that protects and holds color in. Matrix/Biolage has a couple good ones. Biolage by Matrix Color Care (shampoo and conditioner) says it preserves the longevity of color-treated hair or ty color.smart by Matrix to prevent color escape.

I have used Matrix products and they are great.
I would get my hair done professionally at a salon if I were you
all hair dyes are different if you find one that works well on your hair then you'll be fine.

What i used to do once i found a good one.

I would dye my hair and leave the color in for up to an hour extra, then i would wash it and condition it in order to get the extra color out.

After that i would wash and condition it every other day. I would wet it everyday, but only wash and condition every other day.

And i only used cold water. the hotter the water the faster the color comes out. so if you have to wash it in the sink with cold, then so be it.

My colors would last for at least a month before noticeably fading to new colors.

And i have had my hair every color you can think of.

good luck.
Keep your hair covered when you go outside. The sun bleaches out color that you put on there, so wear a hat at all time outside.

Also, go to a nice salon and find a good shampoo and conditioner that helps preserve hair color and moisturizes. Dry hair will make your hair color appear to be a different color too!!
